Nandamuri Taraka Ratna also known as Taraka Ratna is a well-known name in Telugu cinema. He was an actor and a politician, hailing from the influential Nandamuri family, connected to both Telugu cinema and politics. His career started with the film Okato Number Kurradu (2002), and he made a record of signing nine films as a lead at once, after the success of his film. He wasn’t just a great protagonist but also gave a great performance as an antagonist for which he received the ‘Nandi award’.

Personal life

TarakaRatna was born in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh in 1983, in the influential Nandamuri family, to Nandamuri Mohana Krishna, a cinematographer in Telugu cinema, and Nandamuri Shanti. His grandfather was also an actor and was also the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh.

He married Alekhya Reddy, who was a divorcee, with whom he fell in love on the set of one of his films, where she worked as a costume designer. He married her against the wishes of both their families, and tied the knot in a small ceremony in a temple, in the presence of a few friends and a couple of family members from Alekhya Reddy’s side. The couple had three kids, a girl and twins, a boy and a girl.

Taraka Ratna had a cardiac arrest on 27 January 2023 and fainted during a political road yatra. Despite receiving the best medical treatment in Bangalore from Heart specialists from the USA, he passed away on 18 February 2023, at the age of 39.
